Day 8 – Qualities of a Yoga Teacher – Thirty Day Personal Challenge

Quality #8:  Patient

Yoga teachers are a patient bunch.  To even become yoga teachers, they have probably already put in a few years of practice.  They spend many more hours than the normal person pursuing the same yoga poses repeatedly, but never tire of them.  They patiently practice in hopes that they will continue to learn something new within every pose.

They are also patient teachers knowing that the practice of yoga is a lifelong journey that is intimately connected to the body, mind and soul.  Developing a complete practice as such requires immense effort and diligent practice over a long period of time.  Often progress comes in minute breakthroughs that may be barely recognizable.

Yoga teachers patiently wait for their students’ breakthroughs and are there to acknowledge and to share the excitement with their students.

Have you experienced an extremely patient teacher in your lifetime, someone who spent extra time to help you understand something?

  1. Thanks for sharing this informative article with us. I started practicing yoga five years back. Initially it was painful but now it has become part of my daily routine. It is an exercise that can work on both brain and body. My overall outlook towards life has become positive.
